How the MDCAT aggregate works
Admission to MBBS and BDS in Pakistan is on open merit, decided by a weighted aggregate of three things: your Matriculation (SSC) result, your FSc/HSSC (Intermediate) result, and your entry-test score. Under the PM&DC national formula, these are weighted 10% : 40% : 50% respectively β so the MDCAT carries the single biggest weight.
Each part is first converted to a percentage of its own total (the national MDCAT is out of 180; Matric and FSc are out of 1200 on the new scheme or 1100 on the old one), then multiplied by its weight and added together. For example, 90% in Matric, 85% in FSc and 80% in MDCAT gives 9 + 34 + 40 = 83% aggregate.
What this includes & its limits
- Implements the standard PMDC/UHS 10/40/50 formula (plus NUMS & KMU) on marks percentages.
- You must also clear the MDCAT pass mark (55% MBBS, 50% BDS) β the aggregate alone doesn't make you eligible.
- Individual colleges may apply exceptions, A-level (IBCC) equivalence, or different totals.
- Shows your aggregate, not an admission guarantee β merit cut-offs change every year with seats and applicants.
